Recently we fitted out a Mazda BT-50 with a new Towing Setup.

We’re back from the Easter Weekend, a tad fatter than before, and posting again! As you’re probably aware (we hope you read our blogs), the Easter Weekend is an extremely busy time of the year with everyone wanting to get their cars fitted for a weekend of Camping, Fishing and Boating. To get this customer ready for their holidays we installed an Electronic Brake Controller, Red & Grey Anderson Plugs and some wiring for the fridge and a rear vision camera! Since you’ve probably, hopefully, read our previous blog posts you would know what some of these installations are. For those who don’t know here’s a little run down on what these products do:

Our favourite is the Redarc Range. WHY? The Redarc TowPro Elite Electric Brake controller is a great safety device that works by monitoring how hard the vehicle is braking and applies a proportional amount of braking to the trailer to suit that application at the time. You can read more about the Tow-Pro Elite here!

We also installed 2 Anderson plugs to the rear of the vehicle. The grey Anderson plug is used for the charging circuit that runs cables from the vehicle to the caravan. This connection is most commonly used to charge the batteries in the caravan while driving. The batteries are separated using a smart battery isolator (Redarc SBI12) which protects the vehicle’s starting battery from going flat when the vehicle is not running. We also installed a red Anderson plug which in this circumstance is used to power the ESC (Electronic Stability Controller) on the customer’s caravan. To read more about Anderson Plugs, click here!

Lastly, we upgraded the trailer plug from a 7 pin to a 12 pin flat which allows the customer to run power to the fridge in the caravan to keep everything cool when driving. We also installed a customer supplied rear vision camera which allows the driver to see what is behind the caravan when driving and reversing.

We hope you had an Amazing Easter Weekend! To see more of Accelerate Auto Electrics follow our Instagram, Facebook and Youtube!
