Another Nissan Navara D40 came in for a Dual Battery setup today. We set up one of our custom battery boxes to go into the tray.

The box is kitted out with

  • Two accessory cigarette sockets
  • Two USB Ports
  • External positive & negative studs
  • Two Anderson plug’s & internal fuses
  • One DIN/Merit/Hella Socket
  • Digital Voltmeter
  • Redarc BCDC1220 Charger

The customer opted for a 125AMP Hour AGM Battery which is the biggest we can fit in this box, it will keep their beer colder for longer.

Wiring Up the Dual Battery System

The wiring is run from the start battery to a midi fuse, down to the chassis rail, along the chassis rail to the rear of the vehicle, where it is then split to allow a cable to run to the Anderson plug at rear for towing. The cable then headed up in between the cabin and tray. We used a pre-existing hole in the tray to poke the cable through. We used 8 B&S twin core cable inside convoluted tubing throughout.

To finish it off two anderson plug’s were fitted in the back of the tray. One is for the wire from the start battery that will charge the new 125AMP Hour AGM battery via the Redarc BCDC charger, the other runs to the back of the vehicle to supply power to the anderson plug on the tow bar.  The battery box has been secured with a tie down strap.

It’s great to have another happy Nissan Navara D40 customer drive away fully charged and ready for a weekend of fun on the Sunshine Coast.
