Holidays are just around the corner and is the perfect chance to get away camping for a few nights, or longer if you are lucky enough.
But if you are like me and don’t want to spend the entire break travelling, check out our favourite 10 places to camp right here on the Sunshine Coast.

1. Cobb & Co Nine Mile Camping Grounds

Cobb and Co Nile Mile Camping Grounds is the perfect family getaway. The 50 lush acres is situated on the Six Mile Creek just south of Gympie. Set on the site of the old Cobb and Co Horse Change Stables at Six Mile Creek, this campground offers luxury tents. Check out our review here.

2. Kenilworth Camping 

A working dairy farm located 2 km from Kenilworth, the campground has lots of shallow sandy swimming holes and big shady camp areas. Check out our review here.

3. Booloomba Creek Camping Area, Conondale National Park

Located between Kenilworth and Connondale, the Booloomba Creek Camping areas are only accessible by high 4wd vehicles. The spots are surrounded by rainforest and offer a peaceful and quiet setting. They’re also the access points to the Connondale Range Great Walk.

  • Water (unsuitable for drinking without treatment as it is pumped from the creek and may contain organisms that can cause illness)
  • Toilets (including wheelchair accessible)
  • Cold showers
  • Individual fire rings (bring your own clean-cut firewood)

4. Teewah Beach, Noosa North Shore

Camping by the beach not enough, want to sleep on the sand wake up to the sun rising over the ocean? Then you can’t go past Teewah Beach camping on Double Island point. You will need a 4wd to access the camping area as well as camping and vehicle access permits.

5. Bluff Creek Camping Kenilworth 

Another hinterland favourite, the privately owned Bluff Creek Campgrounds in Kenilworth are a fantastic spot for a long weekend escape. There are campsites suitable for couples, families and larger groups with each being located nearby the beautiful clear creek with swimming holes and plenty of fish.

6. Cedar Creek camping at Amamoor Creek

Amamoor Creek is great for a quiet break amongst the forest. The national park has several walking trails and swimming holes. It’s also home to many platypi. Turn off the Bruce Highway 20km south of Gympie and follow the signs to Amamoor township. The forest is 10km west of Amamoor along the Amamoor Creek Road and access is suitable for conventional vehicles towing caravans.

7. Borumba Deer Park

Another beautiful campground situated on Yabba Creek, Borumba Deer Park offers secluded uncrowded camping. Swimming, kayaking and fishing are just some of the activities available. The grounds feature two amenities blocks, a laundromat, playground and kiosk.

8. Nerum Creek Bush Retreat

Bordering the Mt Mee State Forest, Nerum Creek Bush Retreat is a privately owned dog-friendly campground. The grounds are spacious with bike riding, canoeing and hiking available. In addition to the standard amenities such as hot water and toilets, there is also tent and camping equipment hire.

9. Rivershore Resort

Located just a short drive away in Diddillibah, Rivershore Resort offers more than your traditional camping. The Luxury safari tents make for a five-star camping experience. 10. Boreen Point

Camp on the shore of Noosa’s largest lake in natural bush surroundings. Suitable for conventional vehicles as well as campervans and caravans, Boreen point is perfect the those who love remote outdoor activities. Boats are allowed on the lake and kayaks are available for hire. Laundry facilities are now available, and they even have an iPhone and Ipad charging station. Dogs are allowed on application.
