Recently we fitted out Land Rover Discovery 4 with the ultimate towing setup.

Today we worked on a customer’s Land Rover Discovery 4. The owner of the vehicle had just purchased a new caravan so our specialised team fitted out the vehicle with a full upgrade the vehicle’s towing and charging system.

Some of the items we fitted were:

• Rear Anderson Plug 
• Electric Brake Controller 
• ESC to Redarc Anderson Plug
• 12 Pin Plug
• Reverse Camera 

First up we installed the Electric Brake controller. The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite is an electric brake controller that is designed to suit most caravans and trailers. The Electric Brake controller works by monitoring how hard the vehicle is braking and applies a proportional amount of braking to the trailer to suit that application at the time. One of our installations was an Anderson plug. The Anderson plug is used for the charging circuit that runs cables from your Vehicle to your Caravan, the cables are connected to the Vehicle battery and the Caravan battery to charge both units. To read more about Anderson Plugs, click here!

A second Anderson plug (red) was also installed to power the Electric Stability Controller in the customer’s caravan. The ESC (Electric Stability Controller) is a must-have safety feature that detects movements of the caravan. For Example, movements can be caused by large vehicles passing by. When the ESC has reached critical point of lateral movement, the caravan brakes automatically kick in and bring the caravan back into line.

Lastly, we installed a rear vision camera on the dash that allows the driver to see what is behind the caravan when driving and reversing. Check out the pictures below!
