Recently we completed a Toyota Rav 4 Thermistor replacement.

The Toyota Rav 4 came into us because the air conditioning wasn’t working. After testing the system and inspecting for leaks and electrical faults, we discovered the Thermistor needed replacing. Unfortunately, there was damage to the wiring and the whole part needed to be replaced.

The AC Thermistor is a type of temperature sensor that is often found in modern AC systems. The Thermistor detects temperatures and sends signals to the AC control module so that automatic adjustments can occur to keep the cabin at the selected temperature. Thermistors can be found both inside the cabin and under the hood of the vehicle depending on the vehicle.

On this vehicle, the Thermistor was located behind the dash of the vehicle. Once the dash was removed, the technician then removed the heater/AC box, disassembled the box, replaced the thermistor, reassembled the box and refit the dash.

Once we replaced the Thermistor we completed an AC Service which includes a re-gas with R134A gas and UV dye.  Now the Toyota Rav 4 has icy cold air conditioning for Summer.
